The evolution of ctrl alt doc.

Public releases and the development milestones that led here.

1.0.7 Released

ctrl alt doc 1.0.7.

The documentation API now carries enough to build real integrations on top of a ctrl alt doc site, the sidebar is friendlier to navigate, and base framework styling has been refined. The source is available on GitHub.

Table of contents & content in the page API

/api/page now returns a document's table of contents and rendered content alongside its title, description and excerpt.

Added

Ready for bot & integration authors

Generated projects include the expanded /api/page response by default, so integrations such as Discord bots can link straight to a specific heading on a page.

Added

Click-to-expand sidebar categories

Sidebar categories now expand or collapse when their label is clicked or tapped, while categories with an index.md page still open their landing page.

Improved

Refined base styling

Base framework styling for brand logos, figures and pagination spacing has been tightened up.

Improved

Generated projects use the latest framework

New projects created with create-ctrlaltdoc now depend on the current ctrl alt doc framework release.

Improved

Release

Available as ctrl-alt-doc@1.0.7 and create-ctrlaltdoc@1.0.7 on npm.

Released
1.0.5 Released

ctrl alt doc 1.0.5.

A focused fix release for the public table-of-contents helper.

Duplicate heading IDs

Pages with repeated headings now receive unique anchors, such as #fixes, #fixes-2 and #fixes-3, instead of colliding on the same ID. Route-level tables of contents stay aligned with the renderer's own heading IDs, and regression coverage guards against this breaking again.

Fixed

Release

Available as ctrl-alt-doc@1.0.5 on npm.

Released
1.0.4 Released

ctrl alt doc 1.0.4.

A fix release for imported Svelte components used inside Markdown tables.

Svelte components in tables

Imported Svelte components now render inside Markdown table cells, and normal inline Markdown formatting is preserved. Regression coverage guards against this breaking again.

Fixed

Release

Available as ctrl-alt-doc@1.0.4 on npm.

Released
0.9.0 Development milestone

Turning ctrl alt doc into a framework

This development milestone established the framework boundary. ctrl alt doc could be packaged, scaffold a fresh project, and run outside its development workspace, laying the foundation for the public release.

01

The framework boundary

Public configuration API

The public ctrl alt doc configuration API is established through defineConfig(), keeping project configuration separate from the framework's internal implementation.

Built

Framework package

ctrl alt doc is now a standalone framework package containing the server runtime, Markdown processing, navigation, search, icons and framework components.

Built

Package entry points

The framework now exposes deliberate public entry points for its configuration API, server runtime, components and framework stylesheet.

Built

Reference application

The development application now consumes the framework package instead of carrying its own copy of the framework implementation.

Built
02

The project experience

Project template

A complete starter project now includes the SvelteKit shell, configuration, custom CSS and example documentation needed to run a new ctrl alt doc project.

Built

Project scaffolding

create-ctrlaltdoc now generates a complete project and applies the requested project name automatically.

Built

Framework ownership

The generated project separates project-owned documentation and configuration from framework infrastructure managed by ctrl alt doc.

Built
03

Icon system

Hugeicons integration

The built-in icon system now uses Hugeicons Stroke Rounded, giving ctrl alt doc a consistent visual language across its framework components and documentation.

Built

Built-in icon library

A curated collection of UI and brand icons is now available through simple icon names, including GitHub, X, Discord, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitch, Reddit and Bluesky.

Built

Icon reference

A dedicated built-in icon reference provides a visual crib-sheet of every icon exposed by the framework, making it easy to discover and reference available icons while writing documentation.

Built
04

Validation

Fresh-project validation

A completely fresh generated project now installs successfully, passes svelte-check, and produces a production build.

Built

Package validation

The packed ctrl-alt-doc@0.9.0 artifact has been installed into a fresh generated project outside the workspace and successfully built.

Built

Release preparation

At this milestone, release hygiene, final framework fixes, and preparation for public distribution remained. That work led to the 1.0.0 public release.

Completed for 1.0.0

v1.0.7

Out Now

ctrl alt doc 1.0.7 is publicly available. Development continues from this foundation, with useful improvements guided by the same principle: documentation, without the baggage. Follow the roadmap for the direction ahead.
